Kicking Off New York Fashion Week With Prada and Zegna

A CHIC CROP of guests, including model and author Caroline de Maigret and DJ Leigh Lezark got into the groove last Thursday at Prada’s downtown Manhattan store. The reason behind the party? A 1970s-inspired installation by costume designer Michael Wilkinson, known for the film “American Hustle,” and exhibition designer and architect Tim Martin as part of Prada’s ongoing Iconoclasts project, which invites various creatives to decorate the brand’s boutiques. “Ms. Prada is fantastic at getting artists to explore and explode an idea,” said Mr. Wilkinson.

This explosion had a distinct disco flavor. Messrs. Wilkinson and Martin used a tableau of sixty mannequins—dressed in Prada’s spring collection and some archival pieces—to evoke a night at Studio 54.
