AMMAN, Jordan — Secretary of State John F. Kerry met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordan's King Abdullah Saturday as he continued his quest to defuse an escalating wave of violence between Israel and Palestinians.
Both Kerry and Abbas pronounced themselves hopeful that the talks would be fruitful, as Kerry entered Abbas’ private residence in an upscale, hilltop residence in the Jordanian capital.
