Keratitis is Simple and Preventable, Yet Still On The Rise

Eye infections are somewhat common in America, but the one type of infection can be easily prevented; but isn’t. Microbial keratitis is an eye infection related to improper contact lens use and care. Basically, if you wear contact lenses all you have to do is take proper care of them and you should be able to avoid keratitis without any incidents.

“Contact lenses can provide many benefits, but they are not risk-free—especially if contact lens wearers take shortcuts and don’t take care of their contact lenses and supplies,” explains Jennifer Cope, MD, MPH.
