Kennedy Center recruits 1st music composer-in-residence

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is recruiting its first ever composer-in-residence to write music across artistic genres and to curate a new contemporary music series.

The center says composer Mason Bates will begin a three-year residency during the 2015-2016 season. He will also be involved in initiatives to use technology to educate audiences. Plans also call for including local artists and DJs in performances at the Kennedy Center.
