Kelly Clarkson has done it again y’all – that is scored the number one album on the Billboard 200. What is almost harder to believe is that over the course of seven albums, Piece By Piece is only Clarkson’s third to open in the penthouse. Were the sales stellar? Absolutely not – the sales were below par. Clarkson sold only 83,000 copies in album sales (97,000 in total impact which is so-so). Compare the 83,000 copies to the opening of Clarkson’s last album, Stronger, which debuted at number two but sold a more robust 163,000 copies, even less notable than her album before that. Still, a number one album is a number one album, and few people can even sell 83,000 copies.
Besides Clarkson’s Piece By Piece, only one other newbie graces that top ten of the Billboard 200. That album belongs to Brandi Carlisle, whose The Firewatcher’s Daughter enters at number nine.
