In just 18 years, a new star begins formation

In the past 18 years, astronomers witnessed the birth of a massive new star, known as W75N(B)-VLA 2. In this short time, the star has undergone massive reactions that altered its structure dramatically.

Astronomers enlisted the National Science Foundation’s Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array to study W75N(B), which resides an estimated 4,200 light years from home.
