Toronto-born Khadr spent a decade in the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay and was returned to Canada in 2012. He was convicted of throwing a grenade when he was 15 years old that killed U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer in Afghanistan during a 2002 firefight.
