The 21-year-old’s record-breaking performance overshadows all the storylines on Day 2.
The journeyman 38-year-old, mostly known for the mullet he used to sport and for once tossing his putter into a lake in the middle of a round, picked the worst year ever to play two freakishly great rounds. Tiger made a par on 13 yesterday, not an eagle.

Great article, Matt. But, I think you missed a "not" in your last sentence.

All I can say is ESPN needs to get a grip. I got home 32 minutes ago. I put on ESPN to see who was winning and all I was watching and hearing was Tiger. I honestly thought he was winning the tournament and I was like wow, great round. It took 22 minutes to see that Woods was -2 and it took me another 2 minutes to realize Spieth was just dominating the field. Call me racist, call me whatever, but enough of Freaking Tiger Woods. ESPN is a sports channel not a Tiger Woods documentary. Good grief, give it up. I can't wait to drop ESPN from Cable.

ESPN needs to cover the Masters for the whole day… we missed Spieth breaking another record today…………..ridiculous…………...

You might say that Spieth is a monster in the making, except that he already is one. At 21 he has done in 36 holes what no one - not Ben Hogan, Arnie, Jack, Phil, or Tiger - has ever touched. But more formidable than his talent may be himself. Based on his public appearances, this kid combines an irresistible brew of respectful amiability, quiet confidence - and a deadly competitiveness that is terrifying. Like Rory, a true tiger that embodies the best of golf. I anticipate years of what will become legendary competition between them.
