Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo took a slight lead in the race for president of the world’s third-biggest democracy, with unofficial tallies giving him an edge over Suharto-era general Prabowo Subianto.

Widodo, known as Jokowi, had 53.44 percent of the vote to Prabowo’s 46.56 percent with 88 percent of ballots counted, according to Lingkaran Survei Indonesia, an organization conducting quick counts.
