Johnson & Johnson Withdraws Devices Used During Hysterectomies Globally

Johnson & Johnson has decided to withdraw a line of devices called laparoscopic power morcellators used during hysterectomies and other uterine procedures. The company is pulling the devices from the global market after concerns were raised that they may spread and even increase the growth rate of undetected cancer inside women.

In April, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration raised concerns about the devices. The agency said that the surgical tools may spread malignant cells.
