Jermaine Dupri Weighs in On 'Blurred Lines'

The “Blurred Lines” verdict has caused a lot of debates, after Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams lost a lawsuit filed against them for copyright infringement. The jury’s decision to side with Marvin Gaye’s family in the lawsuit, will cost Thicke and Williams over seven million dollars. While most people agree Gaye’s “Got To Give it Up” and Thicke’s (Williams produced) “Blurred Lines” sound similar, it doesn’t necessarily mean they copied the song. In reality, there are a ton of songs that sound the same. Creating music with the same or similar sound as previously released work, is usually viewed as paying homage.
