Japanese delegation arrives in N Korea to probe kidnappings

TOKYO: Japanese government officials have arrived in Pyongyang to discuss the investigation into Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korea in the 1970s and 80s. It is the first such meeting in North Korea in 10 years, and seen as a political gamble for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, with a risk the delegation comes home without answers.

The Japanese delegation to Pyongyang wants make sure the probe into the Cold War kidnappings of Japanese citizens is a priority for North Korea, and urge the investigation be carried out swiftly.
