A dozen US-led airstrikes have targeted so-called Islamic State (IS) militant positions, the vast majority of which were near the Syrian city of Kobani, Reuters cites the American Combined Joint Task Force as saying in a statement on Saturday. The strikes near Kobani reportedly hit two large IS units and destroyed 15 of its fighting positions. The statement added that one building under IS control and an additional tactical unit were destroyed. Another strike in Syria, near Al-Hasakah, eliminated two IS guard facilities, the statement continued. The US and its coalition partners also launched 3 airstrikes against IS in Iraq.
