Italy Senate Hits Back at Egypt Over Slain Student

Italy's Senate has voted to stop providing Egypt with free spare parts for its F-16s as a first sanction for what Italy says is a lack of cooperation in investigating the torture and death of an Italian student in Cairo.

Sen. Gian Carlo Sangalli, who pushed the amendment through and secured the 159-55 vote late Wednesday, said he hoped it would "send a signal to Egypt."
