JERUSALEM – Israeli police have raised their alert level following protests across the country over the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old Arab who appeared in video footage to be retreating from police.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says Sunday's move raises preparedness to its second highest level. It comes a day after thousands took to the streets to protest the shooting, with many hurling rocks and firebombs at police.
