At least 50 people were killed in a suicide car bombing in a central marketplace in eastern Iraq on Friday, as people shopped for Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the authorities said.
The attack took place in the heart of Khan Bani Saad township, a mostly Shiite area about a dozen miles from Baquba, the capital of Diyala Province.
