The code helped the team to discover that when a camera is placed close enough to a black hole, more than ten images are created by caustics. In some cases, the thin, bright plane of the galaxy in which the black hole lives is also revealed. The images, thus obtained, cluster along a particular edge of the black hole’s shadow. This phenomenon when appeared on theatre screens provided a realistic idea of what it would be like to orbit a black hole in reality.
