Although I don’t worship at the altar of everything Nolan, I do recognize him as one of the premiere directors out there — but he’s not infallible. Nor is he one of the premiere writers out there, as his willfully complicated plots tend to eventually get bogged down in messy details.

That weakness rears its head once again in “Interstellar,” as do the audio issues that haunted “The Dark Knight Rises.” These audio problems mainly arise during action sequences, when the music and sound effects drown out much-needed dialogue.
