Intensive care survivors have tripled depression risk

A third of people who previously survived a stint in an intensive care unit develop depression which often manifests as physical or somatic symptoms.

Intensive care survivors are more likely to develop a depression characterised by physical weakness, loss of appetite and fatigue, a report published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine has revealed.
