A group of chemists at the University of Illinois discovered a new method to build molecules with just a single click. The primary goal of the researchers is to rapidly break complex molecules into a simpler one. Thus far, researchers have created fourteen different small molecules with this process. Normally, it takes several years to develop and finish clinical trials of new drugs through conventional methods. However, the newly developed process can accelerate the creation of innovative drugs and technologies.
How do you take something very complex and make it as simple as possible? That is the question that chemistry professor and medical doctor Martin D. Burke and researchers at the University of Illinois sought to answer.
