Impoverished Diabetic Patients Often Choose Between Medicine and Lifestyle

A new study from Harvard Medical School points out that patients who have diabetes who also live in poverty have a very hard time managing their condition. Dr. Seth Berkowitz, a medical research fellow at Harvard Medical School, states, “This study suggests that simply increasing access to health care that does not address root causes of illness may be missing a big piece of what patients need to stay healthy and manage their illnesses.”
