Registering another month of decline in March, the U.S. import prices were down by 0.3 percent against 0.4 percent decline predicted by market experts. The U.S. import prices declined in March as the slightly higher oil import cost was offset by fall in price of other imported goods.

The import price decline could lead to muted inflation and could support the Federal Reserve in keeping the interest rates at current level during the policy meeting in June. The decline in prices has kept inflation below the two percent target set by the Federal Reserve.
