Graphene is a two-dimensional, single layer, hexagonal lattice of carbon atoms at atomic scale. Graphene has many extra ordinary characteristic, it conducts heat and electricity, it is 100 times stronger than steel in weight and the recent discovery of graphene to be used as a separation membrane could lead to improved fuel cells.

One of the problems in fuel cell technology is separating protons from hydrogen.
