Iceland rising nearly 1.5 inch per year as glaciers melt

A new study conducted by researchers from University of Arizona has found that Iceland is rising due to climate change. Melting of ice caps frees land that has been noticed to rise at a rate of about 1.4 inch every year, as per the study.

The researchers said the uplift could increase volcanic activity in the region. According to them, Iceland's rising is responsible for last three volcanic eruptions in last half decade that had shut down many flights by spewing ash in the air.
