Ice playground construction begins in Fairbanks

The competitive ice sculpting events are more than a month away, but at the George Horner Ice Park on Philips Field Road this week, a crew of ice carvers began assembling the blocks used to make the park’s mazes, slides and other attractions.

In addition to the usual kids park and the competitively judged ice sculptures this year, look for a 12-foot diameter ice lens at the ice park.
