Hundreds of Hungry Sea Lion Pups Wash Up on California Beaches

Considering the fact that January, over 1,450 sea lions have been discovered stranded on California beaches, crowding rescue centers previous capacity and worrying animal authorities, The New York Times reports. According to researchers, this is five times higher than the historical average.

"There are so several calls, we just can not respond to them all," said Justin Viezbicke, who manages strandings for the state. "The reality is, we just can not get to these animals."
