The more we investigate the human genome, the more we learn about how different genes control—and can be manipulated as such—things like brain size. Todd Preuss, of the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, says, “They have found a smoking gun in the human genome that connects a regulatory element with a proposed pathway for increasing brain size.”
