Hubble captures new images of a circumstellar debris disk deformed by a planet

According to NASA, new images have been captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, which show an ancient planet plowing through the debris disk close to the young star Beta Pictoris, which is nearly 20 million years old. In 2009, a huge exoplanet was found revolving around Beta Pictoris every 18 to 20 years about 900 million miles away.

In 2012, the images were captured by Hubble's Imaging Spectrograph, which used its coronagraphic imaging mode that obstructs the glare of Beta Pictoris itself and makes the surrounding disk visible.
