HPV testing more precise than Pap smear in predicting cervical cancer

Negative test for human papillomavirus (HPV) more credibly indicates a low risk of developing cervical cancer than Pap test, a new research suggests.

Researchers from the National Cancer Institute followed more than 1 million women who were screened through December 2012 to measure cervical cancer risks among women who tested HPV-negative alone, Pap-negative alone, and cotest-negative.
