Hookah smokers prone to higher risk of leukemia

A new study from San Diego State University has found that the fumes the Hookah smokers release contain toxic benzene that has been associated with an increased risk for leukemia. Health experts said that inhaling more of flavored tobacco will certainly putting a person at more risk.

For this research, the researchers examined the levels of SPMA in the urine of more than 100 hookah smokers. SPMA is an acid which is a byproduct of benzene, and it was found in the urine of more than 100 nonsmokers exposed to hookah smoke.
