HHS: Hospital infections decline and lives saved, but more needs to be done

A federally driven effort to reduce infections in hospitals saved 50,000 patient deaths and headed off an estimated 1.3 million infections between 2010 and 2013, a new report shows.

The efforts not only saved lives, they saved money. According to the report, $12 billion in hospital costs were saved in that time.
