Heroin deaths have quadrupled, while the drug price falls

The National Center for Health Statistics has released a new report that shows heroin-related deaths have tripled over the last three years, and have quadrupled over the last 13 years.

The rise in deaths is consistent across all races and genders. And many experts are blaming painkiller addictions. They say many patients hooked on painkillers switch to heroin because it’s much a cheaper form of self-medicating.
