Heavy drinking in mid-age raises stroke risk

Consumption of more than two alcoholic drinks on a daily basis in middle age poses a greater risk of stroke, according to a new study conducted by Pavla Kadlecova, a statistician at the International Clinical Research Center of St. Anne's University Hospital in the Czech Republic, and co-workers.

The major risk factors for stroke include diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking and high blood pressure.
