‘Groundhog Day,’ the Musical, Is Coming to Broadway in 2017

“Groundhog Day,” the classic 1993 comedy film starring Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell and Chris Elliott, is being made into a musical. The story of arrogant Pittsburgh TV weatherman Phil Connors (originally played by Murray), who, while covering the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, is inexplicably forced to repeat the same day over and over again, will hit the stage in 2017.

Danny Rubin, who co-wrote the “Groundhog Day” screenplay with the late Harold Ramis (who directed the film), is on board to write the book for the musical adaptation.
