Gout may cut down Alzheimer’s risk by 24%

Now there is new research suggesting that gout might have a protective effect for the brain against Alzheimer’s. Researchers at the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and at Boston University Medical Center, in Boston found that people who have a history of gout had 24% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers collected and investiagted data from The Health Improvement Network (THIN), an electronic medical record database from general practices from Jan. 1, 1995 to Dec, 31, 2013.
