A recent study from Consumer Reports indicates that a gluten-free diet is not necessarily the healthiest diet, as many people assume. And the problem is not that a gluten-free diet is bad for you—though it could be—but it is that people make the wrong assumption that it is “healthier” when it isn’t. Furthermore, many people don’t seem to understand that a gluten-free diet really only works for people who have certain sensitivities, like Celiac disease.

Celiac disease only affects about seven percent of people in the United States.
