Gloomy Economy Responsible For Lower Gas Prices

MONTAGNE: Yes, a bit of good news now. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular is down to about $2.40 a gallon. In parts of the South and the Midwest, gas is selling for less than two dollars a gallon. It's a sharp drop from earlier in the year when gas prices were around four dollars a gallon. Of course, the reason for the drop is not one we would wish for, a slumping economy.
