Giving costly hepatitis drug to prisoners makes financial sense

A new study has suggested that using expensive new antivirals to treat hepatitis C in inmates may be financially wise. The researchers analyzed computer models to conclude that new pricey drug combinations were more cost-effective than older drug combinations.

Jeremy Goldhaber-Fiebert, the study?s senior author from Stanford University in California said that the model follows a hypothetical group of prisoners that looks like a prison population in the country.
