Girls Creator Lena Dunham to Adapt Catherine, Called Birdy for the Big Screen

A modern-day figurehead for feminism in media, Lena Dunham continues to work on projects (like HBO's Girls) that honestly portray a woman's coming-of-age story. The writer-director has announced that she'll be adapting Karen Cushman's 1994 novel Catherine, Called Birdy with fellow GIrls producer Jenni Konner.

At the 15th annual New Yorker Festival (via The Huffington Post), Dunham revealed her intention to write and direct Catherine, Called Birdy for the big screen. "I'm very excited about it," says Dunham, "I'm not sure when it'll happen, but I'm in the process of [working on it]."
