Celebrate Texas Independence Day in a meaningful spot. Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is where 59 delegates met in 1836 to make a formal declaration of independence from Mexico. The celebration at the lovely riverside park includes artillery and craft demonstrations, musical entertainment and historical re-enactments. For this event, all admission charges and fees will be waived at the 293-acre park's three attractions (Independence Hall, Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm).

Here's your chance to move ice blocks like Hans and make Elsa-approved sweet treats. The Fort Bend Museum invites families to explore the historical roots of Disney's "Frozen" at this interactive event.
