Germany: Man Arrested in Cycle Race Scare Gets 2 ½ Years

A German court has sentenced a man arrested last year on suspicion that he was planning to attack a cycling race to 2½ years in prison for weapons and other offenses.

The news agency dpa says the Frankfurt state court on Monday convicted the 36-year-old defendant, a German and Turkish national identified only as Halil D. in line with German privacy rules, of unauthorized weapons and explosives possession as well as forging documents.
