SEYNE-LES-ALPES, France - Only the co-pilot of Germanwings Flight 9525 was in the cockpit when the Airbus A320 slammed into a steep mountainside in the French Alps, a French prosecutor confirmed Thursday.

A report from The New York Times first said late Wednesday that information taken from the plane's cockpit voice recorder indicated one of the pilots had been locked out of the cockpit before the plane crashed, and the other had tried in enter but was ignored.
