German court convicts 2 Rwandans over crimes committed by militia in eastern Congo

BERLIN – Two Rwandan men have been convicted by a German court over crimes committed by a mostly ethnic-Hutu militia in eastern Congo.

The state court in Stuttgart convicted Ignace Murwanashyaka and Straton Musoni of leadership in a terrorist organization, and Murwanashyaka also was found guilty Monday of being an accessory to war crimes. Murwanashyaka was sentenced to 13 years in prison and Musoni to eight years.
