The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta wanted to bring 18 captured beluga whales in America from Russia. But the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fisheries service refused the aquarium to import the whales.
In September, the aquarium filed a lawsuit against NOAA so that it could import the whales. The beluga whales were captured off the coast of northern Russia in the Sea of Okhotsk. Currently, Russian scientists have been taking care of the whales.
