A genome study of the Darwin finch species on the Galapagos Islands has unveiled a gene behind the species’ remarkable variation of beaks. This was the feature that helped Charles Darwin when he was working on the evolutionary theory.

Researchers from US and Sweden used genome sequences of 120 individual birds from 17 different species to perform their analysis.
