Generic Celecoxib Gets FDA Nod

The FDA has approved generic versions of the COX-2 selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib, the agency announced today.

Known as Celebrex in its trade formulation, celecoxib will be available in a variety of strengths. Mylan Pharmaceuticals will market 50-mg capsules, and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries will market the drug in strengths of 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg.
