GE near deal to sell $30B real estate portfolio

Private equity firm Blackstone Group and Wells Fargo are close to a deal buy a real-estate portfolio valued at a whopping $30 billion from General Electric, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

An agreement on the transaction -- part of GE's bigger plan to return to basic manufacturing -- could be reached as soon as Friday, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the deal is not yet public.
