Gannett Q1 earnings rise 4% due to digital unit revenue gain

Gannett, the media company that owns USA TODAY and local TV stations, said Tuesday adjusted first quarter earnings rose 4% to $112.8 million, driven largely by its digital unit's sharp revenue gain.

Adjusted earnings per share of 49 cents beat analysts' consensus estimate of 45 cents.
