Futuristic vehicles compete in Detroit this weekend

DETROIT -- Vehicles that look they are out of the future are filling a convention center show floor here this weekend as students from throughout North and South America got ready to run the Shell Eco-marathon.

"It's a full year of work coming together," 17-year-old Zachary Lewandowski of University of Detroit Jesuit High School's Ignatian Ignition team said as he stretched a control cable to a hastily added new carburetor on one of U-D Jesuit's Motor City Cub I and II cars.
