Full moon may spoil Australians' view of green Lovejoy comet

Comet C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy) – discovered by Australian Terry Lovejoy in August – is reaching its maximum brightness, but one astronomy expert fears the full moon will wash it from the night sky.

Comet Lovejoy has produced some striking pictures in the last week or so in the northern hemisphere but retired New Zealand astronomer Alan Gilmore says it's unlikely to give antipodean stargazers much pleasure on Monday night.
